Volunteer

One of the most important aspects of the success of the Crew program involves volunteer support from parents, rowers, friends, alumni, and other family members.  Volunteering with the Spartan Crew community creates a wonderful opportunity to bond with your rower, learn about the sport and be a part of a vibrant rowing community.  We need you!  We have a job for every person and every schedule.  We welcome your talents and ideas.  Let us know if you have a particular interest or passion that you would like to share!

Here is where you can help:

Recruiting:  Help man the fort during the Spartan Spree, Interest Night, Novice Day at Sandy Run, Spartan Fest, etc.

Fundraising:  Please take a look at the fundraising tab for details.  Volunteers are always needed to assist with Leaf Raking, Basket Bingo, Dining Outs, and flower sales.

Uniforms, Spirit wear:  Help with sizing, distribution, sales.

Swim test:  Help conduct the test and get everyone cleared to go on the water for the season.

Pasta dinners, regatta food and the end of the year awards dinner:  Help us feed our rowers and families while we communicate information about crew activities.

Serve on the board:  Team up with other members of the WSCBC to help organize and support our rowers and coaches with logistics, administration and elbow grease.

Away regattas: Help with planning, supporting, feeding and chaperoning our rowers on away trips.

Regatta volunteering: Each family is required to cover one regatta volunteer position.  Read more detail at the Regatta Volunteer tab on this website.

We have implemented a point system to promote an environment where each family is contributing to the volunteer needs of the WSCBC and VASRA. Each family will need to earn 6 volunteer points by the end of the season in June. For those families that may not be able to fulfill their volunteer requirement, there will be an opt-out option with a fee of $300

See the Point Value Chart for a list of jobs and their corresponding point value.
