How to Join Spartan Crew

Welcome to Spartan Crew

Register with WSHS Athletics

FCPS requires this before any type of athletic participation

All Athletes must complete the WSHS Athletics registration every school year. (See tips & tricks for more information)

Have an Up-to-Date Physical

This is an FCPS requirement. Each physical is good for 14months.

New and Returning Rowers must submit the completed VHSL Physical form
Please send ONLY pages 1-3 to the WSHS Athletic Trainer, Chris Worrell, CWorrell@fcps.edu

Create or Update a Spartan Rowing Account

This places you on our roster and communication system, and is where you will pay dues for the Spring Season

Spring Registration is open! All new and returning rowers register here.
If you are a new rower and aren't sure that you would like to commit to Spring Rowing and would like to try out Winter Conditioning, please register here.

Swim Test

New Rowers and New Coxswains ONLY will need to complete a Swim Test before going on the water for Learn-to-Row or the Spring Racing Season
Swim tests for the Spring Season will be administered at South Run Rec Center on January 11, 2026, and February 15, 2026.

If you can not make these days, please email Spartan Crew Admin for alternatives.

Transportation

The Carpool Form for the Spring Season(link) is open for signups. All rowers, novice and returning, should fill out the form before Feb 6, 2026. Even if you have arranged your own carpool, please fill this out. Please contact the Spartan Transportation Coordinator if you need any assistance. We want to make sure that everyone has a ride to practice.

Tips & Tricks

If you have registered for another sport, you can edit your registration and add crew.
- Click on the above WSHS Athletic registration link
- Click Login in the upper right corner
- Log in to your account
- Click on registrations, middle left, your Athlete's registration will be listed below
- If you select the dropdown on the right, you can edit and add crew
Emailing your physical to Mr. Worrell seems to work out better than physically dropping off your physical with the athletic trainer's office.
