Borrow an ERG & Summer/Fall Conditioning

  • The WS Crew Team allows rowers to borrow the team ergs over the summer; you just have to promise to do a few things: (1) have a way to get it home, (2) give it a good home, (3) USE IT, and (4) return it before winter workouts in good condition. If you are interested in borrowing an erg please contact Coach Petty or Coach Hemphill) before the end of the season.

  • For the Summer & Fall: The number one requirement is to get out and do something active-do anything active. There are some summer rowing programs and summer rowing camps if you want to get more rowing in. If you chose not to row, think about swimming for the local swim team or play soccer. If that doesn't interest you, then biking, hiking, rollerblading, or running are all good alternatives. The Summer Workout Guide is available for your use.

Practice

  • Practice time on the water begins in Mid-February. It runs from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. Be at Sandy Run by 4:15pm so that practice can begin on time. Practices will run until dusk. The coaches do their best to have all rowers off the water by 6:45pm. Arrive at the park for rower pickup 5 to 10 minutes before 7:00pm so we leave the park as close to 7:00 as possible - we must be out of the park by dark.

  • Saturday practices start [TBD]. Practice time is 9:00am to 11:30am. Be at Sandy Run by 8:45am, Boathouse #3 in order to be ready to start practice at 9:00.
